Rock the Boat is coming up this week and Farm & Table is thrilled to be participating for the second year in a row!
What is Rock the Boat, you ask? It’s Albuquerque’s annual sustainable seafood festival, now in its 9th year! Happening on June 6 this year from 6 to 8:30, the festival features live music, food samples from partnering restaurants (including us!) wine tastings, cooking demos, and more! It’s a great party, but more importantly, it’s for a great cause.
The festival promotes and educates about sustainable seafood practices, which are becoming more and more important in our world. Check out these statistics from the Rock the Boat website:
People once thought that ocean fisheries could never be exhausted, but they were wrong. Increased demand and destructive fishing practices have damaged the health of the oceans. Today, nearly 70% of the world’s fisheries are either fully fished or over fished. Approximately 30 million tons of fish, sharks, marine mammals, sea turtles and seabirds die each year as by-catch (animals caught accidentally and discarded). We can all make a difference and change the future of the ocean!
All proceeds from the event benefit the ABQ Biopark. We hope we’ll see you there!
