We had a great event at Farm & Table this past Sunday!
Local author and vegetable guru Deborah Madison was here promoting her latest book, Vegetable Literacy. She sat down with some of our guests on Sunday to have brunch and talk about her new book.
Ms. Madison lives in northern New Mexico, and is a prominent voice in vegetarian cooking. Vegetable Literacy is the lastest addition to her already formiddable collection of cookbooks that explores living a more vegetable and vegetable-centric lifestyle. In Vegetable Literacy, Ms. Madison not only provides a whole new slew of delicious vegetarian recipes, but also takes a closer look and the vegetables themselves, investigating the families they belong to and their relationships with each other.
Here’s a little more about the book from Ms. Madison’s website:
Families are about similarities and relationships, and it’s as true with plants as it is with our own human families. Vegetable Literacy is about twelve plant families, their names, their quirks and histories, their relationships to one another, and some 300 recipes for how to cook and use them—simply and often intuitively.
We had a great brunch with Deborah on Sunday. It was great to learn a little more about her book, and connect some of our Farm & Table guests with Ms. Madison and her work. Thanks for coming out, Deborah! Your books are an invaluable resource!
