Hot air balloons in the crisp morning sky, the smell of roasting chile in the air… October is a truly wonderful time to be Burqueños.
And in addition to the perfect fall weather, abundant chile harvest and, of course, The Balloon Fiesta, October is also the month to celebrate local food in New Mexico, with the 5th Annual Local Food Festival and Field Day happening on October 14th, presented in association with National Food Day. Farm & Table is excited to join in celebrating local all month long. We’ll be partnering with three other restaurants in Albuquerque for “Moveable Feast,” a week of special dinners across the city featuring local ingredients. We’re also looking forward to our first annual community harvest festival, with Sol Harvest and La Parada. There will be live music, yoga, demonstrations, workshops, a farm stand, shopping and more! We’ll be posting more about our local food month festivities as the month goes along.
In the meantime, we wanted to take the month of October to introduce you to some of the amazing local farmers, artisans, artists and vendors that bring Farm & Table to life. Today, meet Marjorie of Chispas Farms. “Chispas” is Spanish for sparks, and Marjorie loves the quiet, early mornings she spends working on the farm in the South Valley. Check out Chef Jaye’s interview of Marjorie (I love how passionate they get about banana squash).
